"Arab Spring"

"Arab Spring" (June 9th, 2011)
Spring-time is about the end, by the way. Summer-time is just around the corner. Not in the Arab World, they only have one season. Haha!

Honesty speaking, it's fairly easy.

This is what I'm currently doing at work. No, no, not digital painting. Editing the magazine. Haha! I wish I can paint as good as that, though. But anyways, I'm having fun working for this company. Bigger job coming soon, so I better be prepared.

Leibstandarte - Page One

Page one of my comic book. This isn't the finished artwork (there is still no background artwork yet).

Leibstandarte - Cover Page (Slight Modification)

Added some shading to the eyes and lips.

Leibstandarte - Cover Page

Cover page for my comic book. I named the comic book "Leibstandarte" because I liked the word (German for "bodyguard"). The character, who is known only as "narrator" is loosely based on my girlfriend, by the way.

The comic book (sketches still mostly undone).

My apologies for not updating any of the progress being made on my comic book. I've been going back to my hometown quite often so I was not able to do much sketches.

Will update for real once I'm ready to roll.

An old storyboard I did way back in 2008.

Title: What ciggies can do in 10 days
What is it about: A guy who smokes, and the end result is he almost died from cigarettes.

There's a twist with regards to how the character got injured by cigarettes.

To this day, this storyboard remains the best one I ever did.

Paintings I'm really proud of.

"U.S. Soldier" - This painting took me 8 days to complete, and two boxes of (really expensive) acrylic paint. No Gesso was applied on the board.

"Maria Ozawa" - 4 days to complete. This one was a little bit easier, but again, I had to refer to heaps of images just to get the posture right.

For those of you who are wondering.

A lot of people say that I can draw without reference images. Well, to be honest, that's not really true. I need reference images if I want to draw human anatomy. Because I did not study fine arts or medical science, I therefore need references in order for me to draw anatomically correct figures.

The Wood-Man. Without this fine piece of engineering marvel, I wouldn't be able to draw spot-on figures.
Yup, drawing is something no one can master. It's an ongoing self-study kinda thing. Even the best artists need some sort of guide to help them.

For Uni - Degree Project (exhibition)

My Degree Project. This photo was taken during exhibition week. My F.A. for the project was a passport-sized booklet with illustration work inside.

New artwork coming soon.

I will be creating a comic based on my experiences in New Zealand, although I myself will not be included in the comic. A female character based on my girlfriend will act as a "narrator" for the story in the comic.

As of this moment, I am creating drafts for this comic. I will update this post regularly.
