Cover page for my comic book. I named the comic book "Leibstandarte" because I liked the word (German for "bodyguard"). The character, who is known only as "narrator" is loosely based on my girlfriend, by the way.

Title: What ciggies can do in 10 days

What is it about: A guy who smokes, and the end result is he almost died from cigarettes.

There's a twist with regards to how the character got injured by cigarettes.

To this day, this storyboard remains the best one I ever did.

"U.S. Soldier" - This painting took me 8 days to complete, and two boxes of (really expensive) acrylic paint. No Gesso was applied on the board.

"Maria Ozawa" - 4 days to complete. This one was a little bit easier, but again, I had to refer to heaps of images just to get the posture right.

A lot of people say that I can draw without reference images. Well, to be honest, that's not really true. I need reference images if I want to draw human anatomy. Because I did not study fine arts or medical science, I therefore need references in order for me to draw anatomically correct figures.

The Wood-Man. Without this fine piece of engineering marvel, I wouldn't be able to draw spot-on figures.

Yup, drawing is something no one can master. It's an ongoing self-study kinda thing. Even the best artists need some sort of guide to help them.

This was quite a controversial piece of work in which I got heaps of comments from my female classmates with regards to the content in the original draft of the manifesto. It was quite sexual in nature, but I figured that since New Zealand is a supposedly open-minded country (that's what I thought at the time), then there shouldn't be any problems in creating sexually-oriented work. I guess I was wrong about that, though. Haha. Anyway, these two artworks are the "edited" versions.

Mandatory internship. Three months and it wasn't good at all. The company wasn't even related to Graphic Design. It was a computer store....and no pay at all. However, I did create some really good work for the company, even though the owners have not used the designs.

Second concept. Women serving in the army. The style of art is almost like Japanese anime.

My first assignment for illustration class was to create a magazine spread. I chose an article called "Women in the U.S. Army" and illustrated it. The first three images above are concepts for the illustration, whereas the last two images are the final artwork.
